Long Time...No Blog

Wow, I can't believe I haven't posted in a month. I have had a terribly busy past few weeks. The Kid had his first reconciliation last month. Afterwards, I asked how things went, and he told me that he had forgotten something. So I asked, "Did you forget part of the Act of Contrition?" He said, "No, I forgot to tell him something." To which, I sighed and said to myself, "Oh, my."

The holidays were great fun and filled with traditions (old and new)...Advent countdown, the annual visit from the Magic Elf, the neighborhood lighting of the green, breakfast with Santa, Polar Express train ride, trip to Noccalula Falls for Christmas at the Falls, story time at the hotel, decorating our gingerbread house, baking cookies for Santa, sprinkling reindeer dust to light the way...all to lead up to the big day.

Since the beginning of the year, I have spent all my spare time preparing for the birthday party of my BFF's daughter. She's turning 3. The party theme was based on the new Disney Princess, Princess Tiana. If you haven't seen The Princess and the Frog, go. It's too cute. It's great for those LA (Louisiana, that is) lovers out there. But I guess everything makes me miss New Orleans. Anyway, back to the party...the kids had great fun today. Each child had an opportunity to decorate his/her own crown. We played Kiss the Frog and musical lily pads, but the show stopper was the castle. I made a castle out of a refrigerator box. The kids loved, loved, loved it. I think the party was definitely a hit.

Well, here are a few pix to show you what I've been up to.

Snowman Easel Card

The ladies over at Christmas Cards All Year 'Round have inspired me to do a snowman card. I've been wanting to do an easel card for a while and finally decided to do it. I must say that I like how it turned out. I used some of my favorite messy things...glitter and snow. What messy fun!!

Advent

Today marks the start of Advent. I got the idea for this Advent matchbook box on Going Buggy. While I think my box turned out Ok, you must check out the one Enfys did. It's truly fabulous.

The kid is so very excited about Advent or at least the Advent gifts. He can't wait to see what each day holds for him.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Making preparations to help host Thanksgiving dinner...I'm not really sure how well this will go as my mother keeps asking me how I am going to prepare this and that. None of my recipes sound "right" to her. Oh well, maybe I can at least get the place cards right.
