Working full time, it is often difficult to find time for my extracurricular interests. This blog is dedicated to the scrap in time that I can finagle for my scrapbooking and party planning addiction.

Baseball Birthday Invitations
The Kid's birthday is just around the corner. It will be at a local baseball training center. The boys will enjoy time in the cages and on the field with a baseball coach. I still have so much to do for this shindig. Wish me luck.

Hello Blog
Hello blog,It's me, Tina. Perhaps I am dating myself, but does that greeting remind you of anything? "Dear God, it's me, Margaret." Who remembers that? Anyway...
I'm not lost or dead. I have just being super busy with work, a trip to D.C., and Vacation Bible School...all while while nursing a bad neck. Here are a couple of pix to show how I've been spending my time.

Long Time No Blog...Again
It has been a very long time since I actually posted anything. Life has been so busy. I've done several projects during this time, but I actually don't have pictures of the things that I was most excited about. I did the dessert table at our church Easter Egg Hunt. I loved it....pastel marshmallow pops, M&M station, cookies, lollipop bouquet, and a deliciously sweet spring punch. I was so busy with everything that I got no pictures. I can't believe it! This week I created a lunch box for my office assistant with an assortment of gift cards to area restaurants. I think it turned out quite cute, but again I have no pictures.

Hello Springtime
When I saw the colors for this week's challenge at Jazz Paper Designs, I immediately thought of Spring. Perhaps, it is because I have been off this week with the Kid for Spring Break, and my tulips are breaking ground. I can't wait to see how they turn out. This is my first time planting tulip bulbs.
Anyway, be sure to check out this week's challenge.

The Easter Bunny is Coming
Communion Gift Bags

First Communion is fastly approaching. I'm using the first part of Spring vacation to get some crafting done. While I am sure I could have found a similar bag on one of the Cricut carts, there is something very satisfying about cutting stuff out yourself. I found the tutorial for this on Splitcoast Stampers. I have no idea what I will put in these bags...perhaps the rosary kit from Oriental Trading.

CCAYR
I wish I were keeping up with Christmas Cards All Year Round. I would have 10 cards put away for Christmas by now. Oh well, perhaps I will catch up with things soon. There just aren't enough hours in the day or days in the week. CCAYR has an interesting challenge for March. Use mostly green and a snowman on your card. Check out what the CCAYR designers have done.

Easter Tablescape
Lately I have been very interested in party/tablescape blogs. Over on Maddycakes Muse, there is an Easter Tablescape/Spring Party contest. There are some seriously talented people out there doing parties and table design. They gave me the inspiration to give it a shot.
For my Easter tablescape, I used a Battenburg tablecloth that I got from mom. That tablecloth must be at least 15 (maybe 20) years old. Each place setting consists of a gold charger (also very old), blue plates from the Dollar Tree, multicolor dishes from Target, and pastel egg holders (Home Goods) with glittered foam eggs (Joann's). For the centerpiece, I have used three grass slabs from Hobby Lobby with ceramic eggs (also Hobby Lobby), more foam eggs and a large blue craft egg (Michael's).
I have also started planning the dessert buffet. Of course, these samples won't see Easter. At least I have some idea of what I will have.

Call Me, Lady Luck (or maybe Lucky Lady)
A couple of girlfriends and I started a poker group back in the Spring. We played last night. Yours truly was the night's winner of the New Orleans themed gift bag with some Zatarain goodies. YAY!

Well, the next one is on me. I have already started planning for it. Here are pictures of the invites, snack boxes, cupcake holders and picks that I have been working on.

It takes a cool cat
To blow a horn
On LaSalle and Rampart Street
The combo's there with a mambo beat
The Mardi Gras, mambo, mambo, mambo
Party Gras, pambo, mambo, mambo
Mardi Gras, mambo-ooh
Down in New Orleans
I'm taking King Cake to work on Tuesday. I made these toppers to go on the slices.

The Saints Marched Home as Super Bowl Champions

I'm still on my Saints high. I wish I had been in Miami at the game, but I wasn't unfortunately. I did have my fellow Who Dat friends over for game. When we weren't cheering on the Saints, we were stuffing our faces. We had Martha Stewart inspired Nacho Supremo with charred tomatillo salsa and black bean and tomato salsa...delicious, Po Boy sliders, and King Cake among other things.
Back to the game, those guys played hard and finished strong. Thanks Saints for bringing the win home for the Who Dat Nation.

Princess Natalie
My BFF's little girl recently turned three. I helped with her princess party, starting with these save the date cards.

The actual invitations were printed on parchment paper and rolled as scrolls for a royal effect.
The party was held at the neighborhood clubhouse (aka Castle). Guests were greeted with the Princess Natalie Crest made of foam board. The castle on the crest was made from the Paper Dolls Dress Up Cricut Cartridge. Also greeting our little friends was a garden frog from my yard adorned with a crown.
Upon entering, guests were encouraged to decorate crowns to ensure that every little one felt like a prince or princess for the day. (Notice I said encouraged. Getting 3 year olds to do things can be like herding cats. I have "re"found respect for the preschool teacher.) Afterwards, we photographed the willing tots with the life-size Princess Tiana.
Other party activities included Kiss the Frog, musical lily pads, and cookie decorating.
Most of the kids were drawn to the castle. The castle was very easy to make. The most difficult thing was getting the box. After many calls to local appliance stores and being told either "We haven't unboxed anything recently" or "We just broke down our boxes," I took a chance and stopped by a local retail chain around 6:30 one morning and made the score...a super big refrigerator box. I cut out a couple of windows and a door and the painted the box blue and sponged over the blue with purple to mimic stones/bricks. The castle was definitely the highlight of the party. I think fun was had by all.
