I Wanna Rock With You because YOU ROCK!!!

I'm so excited. I'm one of the guest designer on Jazzy Inspirations this week. The color challenge was to use black, white, yellow, and red-orange in the design. Here's my take on it.

Missing MJ

When my mother called me this afternoon to tell me that the King of Pop had died, I felt the same sense of denial and disbelief that I had experienced when my friend Angela walked out of the house late one night to tell me that Princess Di had died just as Camille and I were on our way out for a night on the town. I remember saying, "No, she's not dead. Let's go." Unlike with Princess Di when I blissfully enjoyed my denial at least until the morning papers, I was quickly forced to acknowledge the death of MJ as every program on TV and radio was interrupted with the "breaking news." He was really gone...one of the best entertainers of all time...gone at age 50.

I can't believe it. This man was my childhood. The Jackson 5. The boy in love with the mouse (or rat as I affectionately called it). The scarecrow from The Wiz (which by the way is the source of my original knowledge of the story of Oz...Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Richard Pryor, Nipsey Russell). The Thriller Jacket. The Glove. The moonwalk. Prince v. Michael. And the songs...the songs.

Now I sit watching BET (for the first time in at least 15 years) as they chronicle his musical career, and I must say what talent...what a life...what a gift...

MJ will be missed.

Running with Scissors...so much fun, it could be dangerous

I am excited to say the least about the Running with Scissors event that will be held on Oct 9th and 10th in Birmingham, AL. Not only will we have the opportunity to participate in the Susan G. Komen 5k run, but we will have great fun with over 24 hours of cropping and great classes. Instructors will include Donna Downey, Gretchen McElveen, and Elizabeth Kartchner.

Hibiscus Bag

Just call me the bag lady. I obviously have some obsession with bags. My mother says that I have more bags than anyone she knows. And by bags, I don't mean handbags or purses. I mean tote bags. Pool bag, gym bag, beach bag, book bag, computer bag, grocery bag...just to name a few. Well, here's a mini album that I did with what....a bag. I found this cute gift bag in a scrapbook store in Hawaii. I like how it turned out.

Dream

Over on Jazzy Inspirations, this week's project challenges readers to use the colors of purple, gray, dark green and white. What an interesting color combination! As it is another jazzy project, I had to incorporate music on the card. Love my CB music embossing folder.
